Queen Anne Cherries - Painting A Day - by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"
Every year at this time we buy a big box of Queen Anne Cherries from a local church in our neighborhood that sells fresh fruit as a fund raiser. I always look forward to getting the cherries. They are all firm and sweet and make a perfect snack. When the box is empty I'm good until the latter part of next June for my annual cherry fix. The boxes arrived on the truck yesterday and we picked up our order. They were all so vibrant and shiny I decided I had to paint a few of them. I once again used my very technical system to compose the composition and just threw a small hand full of cherries on the table and painted them exactly like they landed. This is painting 157 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold.

Salt & Pepper #2 - Daily Painting a Day - by Darren Maurer

8"x8"

Last year on July 24, I painted a set of salt and pepper shakers that were from the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming. (Check the archives section of my blog for July 2006 to find it.) I've now painted another set of salt and pepper shakers shown here. They are from the restaurant at Mount Rushmore near Hill City, South Dakota. I was there a couple of weeks ago with my daughter and we had snacks while I photographed items in the restaurant. (I'm always the one taking photographs of things that normal people wouldn't.) Anyway, maybe I'm on to something here? Paintings of salt and pepper shakers from the restaurants of famous places? I'll see how that one works out. I painted this on an 8"x8" square panel and made the two shakers dominate the composition and I really like how it worked out. This is painting 156 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold

PB & J Sack Lunch Daily Painting by Darren Maurer

9" x 12"

One of my daughters eats the hot lunch at school almost everyday. The other one takes a sack lunch with her everyday. I took a sack lunch with me to school almost everyday also. The sandwich was always peanut butter with grape jelly. This painting shows the all time favorite sandwich of most kids and a few adults along with an apple. The brown paper sack makes a nice background and I am happy with the top part of the bag that shows some reflected light inside the bag. This is painting 155 in my Painting A Day Series. Strawberry Painting A Day by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"

Here is a single strawberry that was freshly washed. I used a greenish background to make the red more vivid. The water droplets on the table added some interest for me. This is painting 154 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold
