Peeled Lemon by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"
Painting Sold
I did it!!! I completed a painting a day everyday and posted all of them on this blog page for a month. There were a few times that I didn't know if I would make it. It is exhusting if you want to have a life outside of your regular work and doing family things together. I went with only four hours of sleep a few times but overall it was worth it and very satisfying. I'm going to give myself two or three days off and start again next week. I'll set my goal at another month of daily paintings. So stay tuned! I would also like to thank everyone that helped to make this blog page a reality. My wife and daughters, that helped me with some of the ideas and gave away some of their time in order to let me paint. My good friend, artist Mick McGinty, who encouraged me, helped me photograph the artwork and gave me a few pep talks that really kept me motivated. Our good friends, the Saulsbury family, who had several great ideas and also kept me motivated to paint, and to a new friend that I haven't met in person yet, artist Dave Darrow, who helped me a great deal with many technical aspects of starting a blog page. Check out Dave's Everyday Painting blog at Dave Darrow's Everyday Paintings This is painting 36 in my Painting A Day Series.

Brush Jar by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"
I always keep old brushes when I'm finished using them. This jar is like one of the retirement homes for paint brushes in my studio. I thought it would make a good subject. This is painting 29 in my Painting A Day Series.

Ready to Pass Go by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"
This is a painting that even before it was finished my oldest daughter, who loves the game Monopoly, said to me, "That's mine!" She wanted the painting and I can never say no, so this one isn't for sale. This is painting 28 in my Painting A Day Series.

Daffodils by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"
This was really fun to paint. The glass was painted by brush strokes of color right on top of the dark background. Make enough brush strokes of the correct colors and you have a clear glass vase. This is painting 26 in my Painting A Day Series.

Crayolas by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"
A simple composition of two crayons. Crayons always remind me of when I was kid. Open a box of new crayons and smell them and you are instantly young again. This is painting 24 in my Painting A Day Series.

Bass Oreno, End of the Day by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"
This is a painting that was inspired by a series of limited edition prints that I completed a few years ago titled, "Old Timer's Collection". (The series of four prints can be seen on my web site) I really like the story each old piece of fishing equipment tells. It can bring you back to when you were a kid or remind you of a family member or friend that shared your trips with you. Who does this one remind you of?

Teddy Bear by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"
This is a portrait of my childhood Teddy Bear. The fur is almost completely worn off but he has managed to retain full eyesight in both eyes. That means that both original glass eyes are still attached to his face. Painting Sold

Paint Brush by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"
I never throw brushes away. They can be used to complete many different painting techniques depending on their condition. This is one of my oldest and most used brushes. It has been invovled in completing hundreds of paintings. The ferrule is worn and split and the finish on the handle is almost completely gone. I think it has become an art piece itself.

Jointed Creek Chub Pikie by Darren Maurer

I collect old things. I especially like old fishing stuff. This is a lure from my collection. I think the lighting in the painting captures the nostalgic feel that I see when I look at my vintage tackle collection. Painting Sold
