My initial thought for this painting was going to be a cup of coffee with the morning newspaper laying beside it. A friend suggested showing a newspaper's crossword puzzle with the coffee. I liked that idea and decided to add a pencil also. The reflections in the cup make the painting work for me. This is painting 138 in my Painting A Day Series.
