Apple and Linen by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"
I wanted to paint an apple with a strong contrasting background. Although difficult to see on a computer monitor, the background is a dark green which makes the deep red of the apple jump off of the canvas. I included the linen table cloth to create some interesting reflections on the underside of the apple. This is painting 82 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold

Thanks Jon. I wanted the apple to look red and have a sheen to it. The dark background really brings the apple into the focal point of the painting I think. I did eat it!

I have been experimenting with some different lighting set ups. Do you like the work more or less?
