Yahtzee - Daily Painting A Day - by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"

Painting a bunch of dice is very challenging. I worked on this piece in stages rather than finishing it in one sitting like I usually do. I wanted the under painting to partially dry so I could get the dots on the dice to pop off of their background. Oil paint never dries fast unless you don't want it too. I am also working on several commission paintings that I will be posting as they are finished. This is painting 213 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold

Fried Egg- Daily Painting- by Darren Maurer

5" x 7"

I really like painting eggs. I decided to fry an egg tonight and paint it. While I was working on this piece my wife, ShLoe, came into my studio and said, "Are you going to eat that egg?" I said, "No." and she responds back, "Do you have any idea how much eggs cost now?" Well, I found out eggs cost a lot more than they used to but I still didn't eat this egg. The violet toned background makes the yolk the star of this show. This is painting 212 in my Painting A Day Series. Painting Sold.

Pencil & Crossword Puzzle - Daily Painting by Darren Maurer

6" x 8"

A simple composition of a yellow #2 pencil. I used the crossword puzzle as a background feature and like the simple lines and color it creates. Crossword puzzles have never been my thing. I always go through them and write in the words I know easily and then that is the end of it for me. This is painting 211 in my Painting A Day Series. If anyone is interested in purchasing this piece send me an email by 7pm CST Thursday evening. As always the first email gets the painting. If it is still available tomorrow (Thursday) evening at 7pm I will post it on eBay. The pre-auction price of this painting is $120. UPDATE: Painting sold at 11:57pm Wednesday night. I didn't post this piece until after 11pm so it wasn't on my blog very long before it was purchased.

Apple Sack #2 - Daily Painting by Darren Maurer

8" x 8"

I have been thinking about the first apple sack painting since I posted it. Something about it is very intriguing to me. I wanted to paint another one and here it is. Paintings like this for me are as close to an abstract as any of you will probably see on this blog page. The brushwork is loose but controlled. I might paint a series of fruit subjects inside clear plastic bags. This is painting 210 in my Painting A Day Series. If anyone is interested in purchasing this piece send me an email by 7pm CST Thursday evening. As always the first email gets the painting. If it is still available tomorrow (Thursday) evening at 7pm I will post it on eBay. The price is a little bit more for the pre-auction sale because it is an 8"x8". $150 UPDATE: Painting Sold at 3:45am Thursday morning.
